Project #3 Title: Building Sustainable Communities through Sports

Implementing Partners: Sustainable Communities Network (SCN), Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs, UN Agencies, NGOs, Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs and CSOs.

Funding: Seeking Donor Funding

Cost: 150,000USD

Geographic Locations: Nationwide, Sierra Leone

Project Goal: The Goal is to develop and transform young people and their communities through sports and entrepreneurship. The programme is inclusive, practically addressing the needs of young people (boys and girls, men and women) and does include disability sports.

Project Objectives:
1. Establish a collaborative partnership with the Ministry of Sport, Ministry of Youth Affairs, interested donor partners, NGOs, CSOs and relevant stakeholders to build sustainable communities through sports.
2. Attract investment into sustainable physical and social sporting infrastructures to over $250,000 in the next five years (2024-2029)
3. Establish capacity building support to enable a sports development structure to be established and developed in the five regional headquarter towns in the next five years (2024-2029)
4. Harness the sporting passion of a nation as a force for change
5. Create sustainable community projects through entrepreneurship in two districts by 2025
6. Entrepreneurship trainings to create sustainable projects in the communities.
7. One point of contact for a wide range of sporting, social and workforce development initiatives.

Expected Outcomes:
1. Diversionary activities for youth provided
2. Democracy strengthened and local community engagement enhanced.
3. Education and training opportunities provided
4. Increased participation in sport enhancing the health of the nation and more laurels
5. attracting opportunities for foreign direct investment (FDI) from international local partners and encouraging sporting enterprises to support financially

Sustainability Plan: Ensure the project objectives and expected outcomes are achieved and the impact felt across the nation, while maintaining collaboration with implementing partner.
