Mr Samuel Borbor Koroma is a Gemologist and former Director of Precious Minerals Trading for the National Minerals Agency in Sierra Leone. Before his career in the mining industry, he worked as a High School Teacher in Sierra Leone and the Gambia, gaining valuable experience in managing people. He currently works in the private sector as a Diamond Buyer for GemFair, a subsidiary of the DeBeers Group of Companies.
Mr. Koroma’s expertise in the diamond industry has led him to travel extensively, sharing his knowledge on diamond valuation, raising awareness about the dangers of diamond smuggling, and encouraging community leaders to utilize diamond funds for development. Additionally, he has been involved in training miners and diggers on basic skills in diamond valuation and new mining techniques for various projects supported by the DFID Diamond Sector Project and USAID. With his wealth of experience and knowledge, Mr Koroma is well-equipped to take on the challenge of the Sustainable Communities Network.
